Module summary

This module provides the foundational physics consistent with A-level standard to ensure the basic skills are met to pursue an engineering discipline at degree level.

Objectives

To solve scientific problems using foundational physics principles.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of the module students will have demonstrated the following learning outcomes relevant to the subject:

1. Have a knowledge and understanding of scientific principles, namely the relevant aspects of physics, to enable the understanding of engineering principles.

b. Problem solving & analytical skills

Syllabus

Units, kinematics, definition of force, work and energy, oscillators, electric forces and electric fields, magnetic forces and magnetic fields, ideal gases, kinetic theory and heat.
